Naked Hand & Hand Puppetry Workshops
DISCOVER YOUR BODY AS A PUPPET
Hand Puppetry is one of the oldest forms of puppetry,
and traditionally one of the most irreverent. The Naked
Hand & Hand Puppetry Workshop aims to introduce
participants to Hand Puppet making, manipulation,
creation and performance.
The workshop begins with an introduction to traditional
booth Hand Puppetry techniques, co-ordination and
disassociation exercises, then applies these techniques
to physical theatre. After an introduction to basic
manipulation techniques including: fixed-point, eye-line,
isolation, and posture, participants will develop character
gestures such as: walks, sitting, sleeping, climbing, flying,
sneezing, etc and build unique characters for their
puppets.
Improvisation exercises will explore how we can use our
bodies to tell stories, use body parts to create puppets,
create environments for hand and naked hand puppets,
and how we can use our hands as puppets and
performers together to create short scenes.
