ABOUT
ABOUT OUR PERFORMANCES
We aim to create immersing theatrical
experiences through which puppetry or
object theatre plays a central role. The
relationship between puppeteer / puppet
or performer / puppet is key, providing a
central dynamic / conflict through which the
story unfolds. Our shows are primarily
devised; developed through improvisation
and reaction to external stimulus (image,
music, space, light). While final
decision-making rests with the director all
performers and crew are equals in the
creation process. The detail, nuance, and
technical precision of our work reflects the
spirit of this collaboration.
Narrative is secondary to the visual
and visceral experience of the audience.
Narrative comes to the fore in shows
focused on the relationship between
language / image / gesture.
Over time core themes for exploration
have emerged and re-emerged in our
work. The grotesque, spirituality and
religion, identity, sexuality, gender,
illusion, relationship conflict, desire,
and the balance point between chaos
and order.
Perhaps most importantly we seek to
identify the taboos in our society and
culture, define them, research them, and
explore them from different view points
during the creation process and on stage.
This links empirically to our work with the
grotesque.
Our performances are not always easy to
watch, but you will never leave half hearted.
