THE ART OF REDISCOVERING
In the ‘Object Theatre and Clowning’ workshop, participants
approach object rediscovery through the clown persona,
undertaking serious play to rediscover the form, function,
meanings, and metaphors of known objects.
The workshop aims to develop a relationship / conflict
between the clown and objects.
This is done in two ways, through the use of objects as puppets
by giving them human or animal characteristics, and by the use
of objects as objects – where the clown’s response to, and
interaction with the object endows the object with new meaning.
Through games, improvisations, and exercises participants will
work with objects to create short scenes. Examining why certain
objects illuminate aspects of the clown, how the clown can
engage with an object through accidents, problem solving, and
missing objects to create short scenes.
