Michael Bevitt:
Michael has been performing and
teaching puppetry since 2001. He
won his first audition at the end of
High School and spent the next 2
years touring NSW, VIC, and QLD.
He has extensive experience as a
teacher of puppetry, drama and
music. Michael has a BA in acting
and a Post Grad. Diploma in Puppetry
from the Victorian College of the Arts.
He has performed around Australia
and internationally at festivals
including the Woodford Folk Festival,
Adelaide Fringe Festival, and at the
UNIMA International Congress 2008
in Perth, WA. Michael is the current
Treasurer of UNIMA Australia.
Michael works with many puppetry
styles including Bunraku, Shadow,
Hand, Rod, and Object Theatre. A
skilled physical theatre performer,
improviser, musician and comic,
Michael brings his acting and vocal
talent to a wide range of puppet
characters and has worked as a
puppeteer in a number of short films.
In 2008 Michael formed Purple
Capsicum Puppets (PCP), a puppetry
performance and workshop company
creating work for and with children.
Michael is currently the Treasurer of
UNIMA Australia and spends most of
his time touring Australia performing.
